Leash skills is one of the cornerstones of Jessicas training. Having a leash that is well made and fits comfortably in the persons hand has a huge impact in the owners confidence and ability to handle the leash and thus the dog in any situation.

LEASHES COME IN MULTIPLE COLORS. DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYTHING THINNER THAN 1/2 INCH IN WIDTH.

Don’t judge a book by its cover! This book is one of Jessicas’ favorites and it is PACKED with topics in behavioral science, experimental design, data gathering and proper analysis using statistics. This book has the information of a textbook with the humor Dr. Baranchok is known for. But above all, science, this book is packed with science that can be transferred to dog training and behavior as well as human behavior.

Volume 1 of this 3 series set of textbooks used by college professors such as Dr. Mark Plonsky, a professor of Animal Psychology, an established dog trainer and Expert Witness like Jessicas’ father. This volume covers much of what trainers don’t know when it comes to the neuroscience and genetics of dog behavior.

Volume 2 of this three-series set of textbooks delves into the proper methods of analyzing behavior, diagnosing, and treating issues. His approach is that of a true behavior modifier who would utilize something that, unfortunately, is not taught in even the most well-known “trainer certification courses.”

Volume 3 of this three-part series of textbooks explores behavioral science and its applications in dog behavior. He also discusses the cynopraxic style of training, which focuses on the relationship between the owner and the dog and the benefits.

“Don’t read about Skinner, READ SKINNER!”

This is something Jessica tells ALL those interested in behavior, be it human or dog. As a proud member of the B.F. Skinner Foundation, she has read ALL of his works. He is after all the “father of operant conditioning,” which is one of the 2 principals of conditioning of behavior which is what ALL, learning theory and behavioral science is based on. While you can get all of his works on Amazon, you can get them in different formats and for a much lower price from the BF Skinner Foundation website and your money will go to the continuation of learning in behavioral science. Some of Jessicas’ clients have read his works out of mere curiosity based on things learned during training and have found how easily they apply to their daily lives as well! Here is a list of her favorites, in an order that is most easily digested by those not well-versed in behavioral science.
