A Lifetime of Honing Her Craft
Jessica’s passion for dog training began at just 8 years old, learning basic obedience and competing in her first AKC trial by age 9. By 13, under the watchful eye of her father—her mentor and hero—she expanded her expertise into handling and training K9s. At Global Training Academy in Somerset, Texas, she trained dogs for the Department of Defense, Border Patrol, Military Special Forces, and Police Departments across the U.S.
After stepping away from physically training K9s, Jessica remained immersed in the industry, mastering expert witness testimony in K9-related cases for state and federal courts. When she lost her father in 2018, she thought her time with dogs was over—but in 2022, she couldn’t deny the calling that had shaped her entire life. She returned to training, this time in the pet sector, slowly rebuilding her connection to the industry.
Nose First Detection Development & Consulting
In 2024, Jessica returned to her true passion—detection dogs—launching Nose First Detection Development and Consulting. While she offers K9 training for law enforcement, she also provides seminars and workshops for scent detection sport enthusiasts, bridging the gap between pet training and the high-stakes world where lives—not ribbons—are on the line.
Jessica does not subscribe to a single training method. Experience has taught her that rigid approaches exclude the dogs and owners who need help the most. She believes in tailored, adaptable training, ensuring every dog gets the guidance suited to their unique needs.
Blending Science and Experience
Jessica has been an academic student of behavioral science since the 1990s—long before "science-based training" became a slogan. Her philosophy? Science is a guide, not an instruction manual. A book can teach theory, but reading a dog takes hands-on experience.
She also knows that there are no federal or state certification standards for dog trainers—not even in the K9 sector. That’s why she emphasizes practical knowledge, ensuring her training goes beyond textbook techniques to help real dogs and their owners succeed.
Why Work With Jessica?
At the heart of Jessica's philosophy is a commitment to adaptability, experience, and a deep respect for the bond between dogs and their handlers. Whether you’re seeking guidance in pet training, scent detection, or K9 development, her goal is to provide real-world expertise that helps both dogs and their people succeed.
